View Full Version : Allergic Reaction To Happy Caps - Lounge-e?

Ok, so I'm 15 and I thought I'd try out some Happy Caps. I have no previous experience with any type of recreationl drug, legal or illegal so I thought the Lounge-e pills would be good to start off with and I just wanted something that would chill me out.
They arrived the other day and since I'm under 18, and probably have a low tolerence for these pills, and I'm pretty small and skinny for my age, I decided to just empty about 1/4 of a capsule and swallow it with some water. However, this was on an empty stomach. About an hour later I had very little effects, just a little numbing of my hands and lips. But I'd then realised that I'd taken my prescribed antihistamine tablet for my dust and hayfever allergy that morining, when it is advised that you do not take any prescribed medication when taking these pills.
So the morning after, I woke up with an allergic reaction, the same reaction that I get when I'm in contact with a house dust mite or pollen without taking my allergy medication. I again took my antihistamine medication to releave these symptoms.
So I though I'd try them out again, thinking it was just a coinscidence because I sometimes just come out with an allergic reaction from pollen even when taking my medication, and I'd just been to a concert the night before so I might have come across something there. So even after again taking my prescribed medication that morning, I decided to take about half the dose than the night before (1/8) of the Lounge-e pill to see what happens.
The effects felt odly greater this time. And about 2 hours later, I could feel my allergy coming on again, so this time I took these normal, non prescribed allergy pills and went to bed. I woke up the next morning virtually allergy-free.
So my question is, if anybody is able to answer it. Do you think I am allergic to an ingredient in the happy caps? Or, has taking some of the pill sort of reversed the effects of my anti-histamine and made it ineffecive?
Sorry this is such a long post but I feel that for a good answer you need to know all of that facts.
Any help is greatly appreciated and you can add me on msn or e-mail me at: converse-rock@hotmail.com if that would be easier.
Thanks :)

yea i dont think they work at all though, most legal highs do not actually do anything (but occasioinly make you feel sick), you have to search out the ones that do.
id read reviews on this forum etc before making any purchases as if you dont know what your buying then chances are it wont work at all and youll be wasting your cash.

Well these happy caps did work for me because as I said, I did feel numb, unless thats the placebo effect which I doubt.

id rather want a 15 year old to come here and ask these questions.

does anyone know what the ingredients are for those party pills? guess the first thing to look at would be the ingredients to see if there is anything obvious.
if you're having this reaction with these ones, you may very well have a reaction with others that share a common ingredient.
the other thing is to find info on the anti-histamine and how it works, could be that two chems are in conflict and causing the reaction you had.

if wiki is correct then maybe it could be to do with the Schizandra with its "immuno-modulating constituents"...
I'm no scientist by any stretch of the imagination but maybe this stuff doesn't play well with anti-histamine meds.
anyone out there that is clued up on this kinda stuff?

In order to establish the antiallergic properties of Schisandra fructus and Magnolia flos, several compounds isolated from these plants were tested for 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) inhibitory activity in vitro, for the first time. The compounds including schizandrins, schisandrols, gomisins, fargesin, eudesmin and lirioresinol B dimethyl ether, inhibited 5-LOX-catalysed leukotriene production from A23187-treated rat basophilic leukemia (RBL-1) cells at concentrations of 1-100 µm. In particular, constituents such as schisandrol A and gomisins showed potent inhibitory activity (IC50s < 10 µm) on 5-LOX-catalysed leukotriene production, but were much less active on cyclooxygenase-2-catalysed prostaglandin E2 and inducible nitric oxide-catalysed NO production. These compounds have the potential to be developed as novel antiallergic agents and may contribute to the antiallergic pharmacological use of these plant materials in Chinese medicine.
Lim, H. et al., 2009. 5-Lipoxygenase-inhibitory constituents from Schizandra fructus and Magnolia flos (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19277963?ordinalpos=2&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsP anel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum). Phytother Res.
That paper is so new, it's not yet been published on paper. It seems to suggest Schizandra has the opposite effect. Also, less than one pill would probably contain a negligable dose.

Er, does this mean that a property of one of the ingredients is that its supposed to make you not allergic to it?
Thanks for the list of ingredients for the happy caps by the way, I'm not allergic to any of these as far as I'm aware, the only allergy tests I have done are for house dust mite, pollen, and some cat and dog hair which all came back positive. So maybe I'm just allergic to one/some of these ingredients as well :(
Also, the main ingredient in these anti-histamines I take is called Loratadine.
However, yesterday morning I took half a tablet of these other anti-hystamine medication, just over the counter tablets, with again the main ingredient being Loratadine. About 6 hours later I decided to try out the happy caps again, just 1/8 this time aswell. I could feel some effects taking place, including a little numbness which I presumed was supposed to happen?
Anyway, after about an hour I started feeling an allergic reaction coming on again, noticing some mild symtoms I encounter when getting an allergic reaction (puffy eyes, weezy chest etc) so I decided to stop. Could this just be the Loratadine being affected by the ingredients in the happy caps again? Even though both the anti-histamine and the happy caps were taken in very small doses?
Or would it just be correct to say i'm allergic to an ingredient in the happy caps, but then wouldn't the anti-histamines prevent the allergic reaction?
I think when I get the chance I will stay off the anti-histamines for at least 24 hours and try out a small dose of the happy caps and see if I get a reaction, if I do then we can conclude that I'm allergic to them. However, I might have to wait a while before I can do this little experiment because of the high pollen count and windy weather we've got over here at the moment which makes the experiement unreliable.
Anywho, thanks very much for all the info and help everyone. :)

Update: Tried some more happy caps (about 2 fingerfulls) yesterday after not taking any anti-histamines that day. Result! I felt small effects, just feeling quite relaxed with no side-effects like allergy symptoms or heart palpitations!
I can now conclude that the happy caps must have interferred my anti-histamines somehow.
