Hey guys and girls, thought I'd write up a little trip report of my shroom experience last night, was a lovely trip..

I prefer not to write my trip reports like a scientific experiment, I don't rate things on a shulgin scale or anything like that. I just like getting myself twisted, then telling people about it!

So, it all started about 8 in the evening, after the kids went to bed. I went to the toilet upstairs, and found a bag that, on closer inspection, happened to have what appeared to be columbian cubensis growing in it.. Wonder how that got there! ;)

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth on a friday night (that would be rude), but at that point not wanting to get uber mashed, I picked a medium sized soldier and munched it down..

35 minutes later, and I'm watching Coronation Street with my wife (cheesy soap opera for those not in the UK).. My wife went upstairs for a bath, and then the weirdness started..

The actors and actresses on the screen became more and more alien looking. I think that giger must have taken a lot of his inspiration from mushroom trips, because the giger-esque nature of human faces is a running theme from many many mushroom trips for me.

Anyway, things got more and more twisted and alien, and I began to freak out just a little. I'd only eaten one medium sized shroom, how could it be this strong this soon?! I find the come-up on many drugs to be quite un-nerving, and the un-nerving feeling for this trip was made worse by the intensity of the shroom. Still, I'm an experienced tripper, I wasn't going to let nerves ruin my night.

Eventually my wife came back from my bath, and then there was instant relief from my slightly paranoid thoughts. 'Friends' started on the tv, which is a favourite of ours.

Well, that's when things got REALLY fucked up. I remember Jennifer Aniston was on screen, and the lighting seemed really red. Like, SATANIC red.. She had a satanic look on her face, mixed with the same giger look from earlier. My whole field of vision was interconnected with symmetrical lines that all eminated from her face. I wish I could somehow get that image out of my head and show it to you all, it was dark, beautiful, and intricate to an impossible degree.

We've been painting the house of late, and my wife decided she wanted to paint some of the kitchen (she wasn't tripping).. I decided the best plan was to take a beanbag into the kitchen, flump on it and keep her company. Much hilarity ensued, I was endlessly amused by the way little parts of the wall she painted seemed to grow and grow, as if the wall was painting itself. I spent a good 45 minutes taking in all the artwork my kids have drawn and painted, that we've stuck to the kitchen door. They were melting, twisting, changing colour to take on endless forms and implications. I love to look at simplistic art when tripping, to see it constantly evolve with my mood. I remember gazing into a landscape photo on the wall, the picture gained depth, became totally 3d. It was as if there was a hole in the wall and I could peer through it to this beautiful 3d landscape. The clouds in the photo drifted casually across the horizon. There was a fantastic moment when my wife reached upwards to paint a bit near the ceiling. What with her pose, the paintbrush in hand and the shroomage, she looked like a surreal version of the statue of liberty, with more spangly symmetrical lines eminating from her all over the place.

Then, as soon as the shroom had come on, it left again. No big deal. My wife went to bed (it was about 11.30 by this point), I decided to stay up and watch red dwarf.

About an hour later, down came my wife again. She takes tramadol for a very bad back, and had eaten too many and was freaking out a bit. Forrest Gump was starting on the TV, so I told her to lie down, I went upstairs and picked a real BIG shroom this time, down the hatch it went!

For about 40 minutes I enjoyed the movie, it really is a great film to watch whilst tripping. I kept wondering when I'd dive back into the world of the mushroom, but it wouldn't come. Then, all of a sudden, WHAM! There was no warning, no gradual come-up. One second all was relatively normal, the next everyone seemed to be composed of diamond shaped fragments. Excellent! I was captivated by this hallucination, that was more DMT-esque in nature than mushroom-esque. I wondered if any of the painkillers I'd taken from earlier may have been a MAOI (we've a plethora of fun in the cupboard, and I'd helped myself to quite a few to make myself feel comfortable).. I've read that eventually psylocybin is converted to DMT in the body, and with a MAOI this would possibly enable you to experience the DMT as well as the shrooms.

I sat there in this state for another 45 minutes or so, enjoying the movie. Much time dilation was going on, 5 minutes seemed like hours. The giger theme from earlier was back in force, everything and everyone twisted in that fashion. My wife decided to go back to bed, I decided I wanted to watch the rest of the movie. Forrest Gump is a film about how having a good nature in life is far more important than intelligence. It's a wonderful feel-good movie, and was made all the more poignant by the psychedelics.

This is where my trip became introspective. I analysed myself and my life. I realised that I have my problems (with opiates specifically), which whilst they're not too bad, need sorting out so that I can feel fulfilled. Unlike in sober life, I felt I did not need to sweep my troubles under the carpet. I felt comfortable facing them head on, and came to the conclusion that I'm a semi alcoholic and drug addict. Who knows if I'll do anything about it, but it was nice to admit it to myself so honestly. I had some beautiful hallucinations. The best of the lot was when I went to the toilet to pee. I left the light off, and in the darkness all of a sudden my whole vision was composed of multi-coloured dots. Millions of them. The cool thing was that the dots bent themselves to form the shapes of everything in the room. The toilet looked like a toilet shaped wicker basket, only instead of wicker the basket was made from an endlessly evolving mesh of multicoloured dots. Wonderful!

Soon after this, I began to gradually come down again. I remember sitting on the kitchen floor for a bit, watching 3d fractal patterns rise and fall out of it endlessly. It took a while to sleep when I retired to bed on account of my rather over stimulated brain.

This morning I feel tired, but also wonderful. I love the way a good trip can make the soul feel cleansed. It's reinforced psylocybin as my favourite drug of all time. It's epic!

So that's about it. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed my tale! :)

Edit: after reading that through again, I realise that I've only touched upon the highlights from the trip. I wish I could describe everything that occured, show everyone the wonderfully twisted thoughts, visuals and emotions that a shroom trip is composed of. It's different from the likes of acid, which is much more hectic, intense, confusing and 'chemical' feeling. I feel that I haven't done the shrooms justice, in a way. They're a fantastic teacher, and one that any person who's interested in the psychedelic realm should experience. God save the shroom! :D
