has any got any experiecne with using brain training sites?,

basically im allowing my mind to just rot at the moment where i dont work and have nout to do, and the fact i have recently gave up an almost decade long love affair with ganja does not help, i almost wish i had never even seen it tbh but i digress.

are any of these brain training sites any good? i like the idea of using the games e,c,t to exercise the mind in a fun way.

i want to go back to uni to study something either science or medicene based and allough i once had the mind to take that on with ease, i really have not got the mental capacity at the moment, i am worried that its more than just lack of use and even think that the cannabis might have dulled my mind for good, which is fucking sad really as i could have done anything.

does anyone have any experience or pearls of wisdom that might help me out,
i would be very thankful

You could try a variety of exercises that involve redeveloping your mental capacity, in order to learn how to think again in the ways you might have done before. Things like reading a quality newspaper everyday, reading books on different subjects, of varying complexity, from the lightly entertaining to the deeply philosophical. This can spread from across culture and the arts through to the sciences. From the simple to the complex. Most importantly, write about what you read. Try and engage your viewpoints by creating structured responses to some of the subjects/issues you read about. Do the same visual and auditory media as well. Reflect similarly on your own artistic and creative output. In short, try to understand the way(s) your own mind functions and why you think the way you do about anything.

Inject your life with a purpose, one which exists to re-connect with your former intellectual being.

Do crosswords, number puzzles, word games, quizes, board games, whatever, but do it with your 'purpose' in mind.

The point of these different things is to force you to use a range of analytical approaches which ultimately come into play when you get back into higher education. But, don't try to go back until you've prepared yourself for it. Take as long as it takes, and do everything on your terms.

Avoid excessive use of all substances. Use them only if they contribute to your goal. If they don't don't do them.

I've read your contributions on here and over on Champ Legals. I know you're intelligent anyway. What you've really got to cast off is the mindset that smoking dope too much and doing too much other stuff has given you. I don't think it's unsurmountable by any means. But it needs the will and spirit to do it.

All the very best my friend.:)

You could also try looking into nootropics and other brain food to assist with the training.

Definitely pick up a bottle of fish oil caps, Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA / DHA) help heaps for brain recovery and repairing the synapses(?)

Also exercise is extremely important, doing some cardio even once a week will help a lot to get your blood flowing to your brain and clear your mind.

Could look into meditation ... its a bit outside the square but its amazing if you really get into it.

I think this is probably the best advice in the entire thread. Go get a trainer and get into a solid schedule. You'll never feel better and exercise will help more than any nootropic or anything else. This isn't to dismiss the power of nootropics, meditation and doing brain puzzles.. it's just making clear that exercise is several time more important than anything else.

I'd also recommend taking a few classes at the community college or University. Not too expensive and a great way to force yourself back into the learning mindset. If you're bright enough join a group like MENSA to get into some really interesting conversations.

SuperGreenWarrior, I'm convinced a lot of it is about determination and willpower. If you become interested and focussed enough, you will be able to succeed. I went back to school ten years ago by doing some evening classes in architetural history/art history then in 2004, was successfully admitted onto a Master's degree course in History of Art. Completed one year later, aged 40; and this was after many years of ecstasy/acid use.

While I was on my course, I didn't touch any substances. It was tough but well worth it in the end. Best of luck!:)

I will also suggest if you haven't already learned to play a musical instrument that would be a good way to increase the productivity of your brain. I just began learning how to play the piano and really enjoy it.

Hey man, about the brain training sites that you asked, this is fun and effective I can wholeheartedly recommend:

https://www.lumosity.com

They offer a free trial which is long enough to give small but visible benefits. I try to practise daily, and it's great to see oneself getting sharper by the day, they show your brain development graphs and such. Before you sign up, google up for lumosity coupon to make the price lower, I got 50% off after which it's a bargain!

Another good program (better if combined with something other such as lumosity) is brainev.com. There's also a 15 min free clip that'll do you good if used for a period of time. An expensive course in full, but likely worth it if you have the patience to lay still 30 minutes a day listening for white noise :).

Good luck!
