pill presses are illegal to own in the united states without a license. Used candy machines from India on ebay aren't. Someone I know said that his friends friend used candy molds and molded candy.

Understand why but it will look bad if you were ever discovered. Why not just stick to capsules if you have to go down that route?

Well, assuming you need to put your vitamins or candy in these, capsules aren't great for going out. I have diabetic friends who make their own sweets using candy molds ;)

Can't see why, babes. If anything, you can tailor your doses more with caps. They also hit you harder.

thats really only true if it's a liquid capsule, look it up, or get some HCI and do your own test
some capsules break down quicker than others, but it's really not all that different
making a liquid solution on the other hand has been shown to have up to a 98% absorption rate
cheers :-D

it also depends on the chem as well, some chems bioavailability doesn't change in a solution
but quite a few do :) (especially timed release business)

Tabletting is a pretty complex process, not just as simple as bunging some powder in a machine. You need all sorts of other stuff- binder to hold it all together, lubricant so it doesn't stick to the press, amongst others. These have to be carefully selected so there's no interaction between them and your active ingredient. On top of that you'd need to mill all your powders beforehand. Basically this is grinding them all so the particles are the same size to ensure uniform mixing throughout the powder mix. Again this is a pretty complex and isn't just doing it by hand with a pestle and mortar.
So it's not the sort of thing you're gonna knock up in your spare room...

Such a thorough mix isn't really necessary for some substances, all depends how precise you want your dosage. They key is to use the least amount of binder as possible. Say for example you wanted 100mg of some substance in each tablet and you needed 100mg of binder to keep it together, so you mix your stuff at a 1:1 ratio SUBSTANCE:BINDER - Aslong as you mix it fairly thoroughly chances are your dosage isn't going to be far off. Some might contain 90mg, some might contain 110mg etc.
The problem occurs when you want to use substances that are active in small dosages, and want a "normal" sized pill. For example some benzo's are active in single or half mg dosages. So if some pills contain half a mg and some contain 10mg this is a massive problem - thats when you need to have it ground up properly etc. You could ofcourse make a smaller tablet - something like LSD microdots for example (not sure if that's how or why they are made like that)
As for pressing them, well you'd only need a machine if you need to press loads of them really quickly. All you really need is a small metal hollow tube, and a solid one that fits perfectly inside it, and a hammer :D
Alot of effort though - just use a capsule.

Not really familiar with a pollen press. I've just looked them up and they look pretty expensive for what they do! Probably worth a go if you allready have one, but I like DIY ;)

:) with the right tools you can make anything

Even sometimes with the wrong tools!
Another consideration is the mixture you use as a binder/filler. Depending on what you use, it could take ages to break apart in your stomach and behave like an extended release tablet - probably not what you want. So you'd need to play about with what you use.
That's another reason why capsules are better :D
